Mrs. J. D. Allen
Taken By Death 

Mrs. Etta Mae Allen, 69, passed away at 11:20 o’clock last night at the home 
of a daughter, Mrs. James O. Walker, 307 Beach Strret (sic), Extension.  
Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending arrival of out-of-town relatives.
   Born in Watauga county, June 21, 1885, she was the daughter of the late 
Frank E. and Rebecca Younce Greer.  Her husband, John F. Allen, died 19 years 
ago.  She was a member of the Zionville Baptist church in Watauga county.
   Survivors include three sons, Lester Allen of Lenoir, Lloyd Allen of 
Empire, Ore. And Willard Allen of Cambridge, Ohio; six other daughters, Mrs. 
Joy Story, Mrs. Kenneth Haigler,, and Mrs. G.T. Lovins of Lenoir, Mrs. Alton 
Garrison of Valdese, Mrs. W. C. Richards of McClellanville, S.C., and Mrs. 
Frank Beach of Indianapolis, Ind.; 34 grandchildren, 12 greatgrandchildren 
(sic); a sister Mrs. Jack Smith of Tennessee; and three brothers, Charlie 
Greer of Watauga county, Ben Greer of Oregon, and Monroe Greer of Idaho.
