House and Senate, Roby T. Greer, ?, of Rt. 2, Boone, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 16, at his residence after a lengthy illness. A native of Watauga, Greer was elected to the N.C. House in 1931 and again in 1933. He also served two terms in the N. C. Senate, being elected in 1937 and again in 1939. Greer was a member and at one time chairman of the Watauga Board of Education, the Watauga County Board of Commissioners, and the Watauga Board of Elections. He was a 1906 graduate of Appalachian Training School, the forerunner of Appalachian State University. Greer was also a retired farmer, farm owner and businessman, and a member of the Three Forks Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Thomas F. and Mary Elizabeth Carlton Greer. He is survived by this widow, Mrs. Anne Ruth Geer, one daughter, Miss Mary Ann Greer of the home; on son, Tom Greer, of Greenville; five sisters, Mrs. Rosa Ford of Kingsport, Tenn., Mrs. Lily Hopkins of Lenoir, Mrs. Hattie Askew of Rockwood, Mich., Mrs. Belle Greene of Blowing Rock, Miss Mary Greer of Lincolnton; one brother, Horace Greer of Boone, and four grandchildren. Services officiated by the Rev. Raymond Hendrix, will be conducted this afternoon (Thursday) at 2 at the Reins-Sturdivant Chapel in Boone. The body will lie in state from 1 until 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the Mt. Lawn Memorial Park.
