Mrs. Banner was a native of Watauga County, born Jan . 2, 1894, daughter of the late Joseph and Cordelia Ward Baird. She was a housewife and a member of the Cove Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ada B. Crisp of the home, Mrs. Grace B. Vannoy of Route 2, Vilas; Mrs. Cholene B. Aldrich of Williamsburg, Va., ; one son-in-law, Howard Vannoy of Route 2, Vilas; one brother, Jack Baird of Sugar Grove; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Juna Biard of Boone; one special friend, Mrs. Myrtle Welch of Vilas; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Thomas J. Banner, and two daughters, Mrs. Mary B. Moody and Mrs. Virginia B. Miller. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Kelley Memorial Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Kenneth Turbyfill and Bill Boyd. Burial will follow in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cove Creek Baptist Church Parsonage Buildingg Fund or to the Watauga County Home Health Service. The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at Reins- Sturdivant. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
