Belle E. Lyons 


    Belle Eggers Lyons, 101, of 212 West Doe Avenue, #2, Elizabethton, passed 
away Saturday, January 19, 2008, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. 


    A native of Watauga County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late John F. 
and Maude Bailiff Eggers. 


    Mrs. Lyons had lived the last 92 years in Elizabethton where she was a 
member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who loved taking care of 
her family. 


    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R. 
Carl Lyons; a son, Dr. Harold Lyons; a grandson, Jeffrey David Lyons; and four 
brothers, Herman, Aubrey, Graydon and Homer Eggers. 


    Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Rachel Lyons, Winder, Ga.; three 
grandsons and their wives, Dwight and Helen Ruth Lyons, Manassas, Va., Chris 
and Christie Lyons, Bogart, Ga., and Steve and Kay Lyons, Sugar Hill, Ga.; a 
sister, Maude Phillippi, Mountain City; and six great-grandchildren and one 
great-great-grandchild. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-
nephews also survive. 


    The funeral service for Mrs. Lyons will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, 
January 22, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with 
Rev. Chris Hughes officiating. Music will be under the direction of her great-
granddaughter, Amber Lyons, flutist, and Jamie Peters, pianist. A graveside 
service will follow on Tuesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active 
pallbearers will be Dwight Lyons, Chris Lyons, Steve Lyons, Graydon Eggers, 
David Eggers and John Eggers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Walter, 
Dr. Johnny Johnson, Art Morrison, John L. Bowers Jr., Harvey Anderson, Jerry 
Grindstaff, Wayne Simpson, Benny Duke, J.L. Price, Rod Chapman and Ramsey 
Pollard. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 
p.m. Monday, January 21, or at the residence of Mrs. Lyons, 212 West Doe 
Avenue, #2, Elizabethton, at other times. Condolences may be sent to the
