Roy Alexander Pitts, 56, pastor of Free Will Baptist church for the past 12 years who died at his home here Tuesday, were held at 2 p.m. today at the church. The Rev. Bob Shores of Blowing Rock and Rev. General Oxentine of Lenoir officiate and interment was in Lance cemetery. He was a brother of Mrs. Walter Winkler of Lenoir. The Rev. Pitts, born in Blowing Rock, a son of the late Roland and Mrs. Sarah Pitts, both of this city was one of the builders of the church of which he was the pastor, organizing the first congregation. He had spent all of his life here. He was twice married, first to the late Mrs. Levetta Winkler Pitts of Lenoir.
