Pitts, 62, engineer for the Town of Blowing Rock, who died of a sudden attack on last Monday. Officiating at the rites were the Rev. Oscar J. Harris, pastor of the Baptist church, and the rev. Robert D. Ernest, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Blowing Rock cemetery. He was born August 18, 1887, the son of the late Captain Robert Pitts and Sarah Green Pitts. He had served as town engineer at Blowing Rock for a number of years. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ila Hartley Pitts, three sons, Norman, Ross and Hayden Pitts, three daughters, Mrs. Eugene Kuhn, Mrs. Daniel Green, and Miss Barbara Ann Pitts, two grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Walter Winkler of Lenoir, and Mrs. O. C. Clarke, of Stanleytown, Va., and three brothers, Monroe, Gordon and Eugene Pitts, all of Blowing Rock. Among those from Lenoir attending the rites were Mrs. Winkler and members of her family, and a cousin, Deputy Sheriff W. C. (Sarge) Pitts.
