WATAUGA COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Pearl B. Perkins, 4 Nov 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Pearl B. Perkins Mrs. Pearl B. Perkins, 93, formerly of Powder Branch Road, Johnson City, died Tuesday, November 4, 2003, at Asbury Place. Mrs. Perkins was a native of Watauga County, N.C., and had lived most of her life in Tennessee. She was a daughter of the late Vernie A. and Judy Bowman Atwood and was also preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Perkins Sr., in 1982, and by three brothers and a sister. Mrs. Perkins was the 1928 Valedictorian at the Watauga Academy and was a retired elementary school teacher. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Clint and Colleen Perkins and John and Gail Perkins, all of Johnson City; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Kenneth Emmert, Johnson City; two sisters, Doris Nelson and Beatrice Barnes, both of Johnson City; several half brothers and half sisters; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mrs. Perkins will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, November 6, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel with the Rev. Art Webb and the Rev. James Archer officiating. Music will be by Jerry Barnett, soloist, and Brian Wilson, trumpeter. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, November 7, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Troy Perkins, Steven Perkins, Johnny Darrell Perkins, Michael Johnson, Alex Perkins, Nathan Webb, Dillon Hoyle and Clint Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Steve Webb, Larry "Kebo" Scalf, Jeff Lewis, Dr. David Moulton, Robert Perkins, Howard Jewett, members of Powder Branch Baptist Church and the third floor nursing staff at Asbury Place. A special thank you is extended to Nancy Maupin and Linda Crouch. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
