Storie, 57, Whitnel resident, were conducted at Laurel Fork Baptist church in Watauga county at two o’clock this afternoon. Burial was in the church cemetery. He was found dead in a creek near a culvert in the Whitnel section on Saturday morning. An autopsy revealed that he died of drowning when he fell fro the top of the culvert to the rocky creek bed, a distance of about 15 feet. Coroner Marshall Kincaid said the autopsy indicated the man probably was rendered unconscious when his head struck rocks in the creek bed. The head was partially under water. Storie also had an injury to the liver, Dr. John Reece, Morganton pathologist, reported after making the autopsy. A native of Watauga county, he was the son of the late George and Sarah (Storie) Storie. Surviving are two sons, Romie Glenn Store of the U. S. Army in Korea, and Wayne Edward Storie of Lenoir; five daughters, Mrs. Lee Teague and Mrs. Tom Winkler, both of Lenoir; Mrs. Alvin Freeman of Hudson, Mrs. Thad Miller of Charlotte and Mrs. John Gentry of Spruce Pine; three brothers, Milton Storie of Lenoir, and J. C. and Collex Storie, both of Blowing Rock; a sister, Mrs. Maude Crow of Lenoir; and 20 grandchildren.
