J. Edgar Young,
Former Watauga
Sheriff, Dies

   J. Edgar Young, 74, passed away Friday afternoon at the home of a son, Fred 
Young in Blowing Rock.
   He had served as sheriff of Watauga county from 1915 to 1922, and was a 
retired farmer.
   Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the 
Little White Reformed Church in Blowing Rock.  Interment will be in the church 
cemetery.
   The body will be removed to the home of his son, Fred Young, this 
afternoon, from the Greer Funeral Home.
   Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. Lena Hartley and Mrs.  Mary Ford, 
both of Blowing Rock; four sons, Fred, Jim and Roy Young, all of Blowing Rock, 
and Johnny
Young, Jr., of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 27 grandchildren and 15 great-
grandchildren.
   He was the son of the late S. W. and Mary McCoin Young.  His wife passed 
away May 14, 1951.
