Marriage License and Certificate of Calvin Barlow and Jane Beck

State of North Carolina,
Office Register of Deeds

Watauga County.
Aug 2nd 1893

To any Ordained Minister of any Religious Denomination, or any Justice of the 
Peace of said County:

       Calvin Barlow having applied to me for a LICENSE for the Marriage of 
Calvin Barlow of Foscoe NC age 53 years, color white, the son of Joseph Barlow 
and Louiza Barlow the father now dead, the mother dead resident of _________ 
and Jane Beck of Foscoe, age 45 years, color white, daughter of _________and 
__________ the father _________the mother _________ resident of _________.

       And the written consent of ____________the _________of the said 
__________ to the proposed marriage having filed with me.

      And there being no legal impediment to such marriage known to me, you 
are hereby authorized at any time within one year from the date hereof, to 
celebrate the proposed marriage at any place within the said County.

       You are required, within two months after you shall have celebrated 
such marriage, to return this License to me, at my office, with your signature 
subscribed to the certificate under this License and with blanks therein 
filled according to the facts, under penalty of forfeiting two hundred dollars 
to the use of any person who shall sue for the same.

are of lawful age, and as far as he is informed and believes there is no 
lawful clause or impediment forbidding said marriage.

Contributor's Note:

Jane Beck was the third and last wife of Calvin Barlow.  There were no 
children born of this marriage.  

Calvin and Jane were married at the home of Calvin's son, Julius Barlow.  
Witnesses to the marriage were Julius Barlow's wife, T.C. (Temperance "Tempie" 
Cordelia) Barlow and Tempie's sister, Martha (McClurd) Jestes.

Calvin and Jane are buried in the McLean Cemetery, Watauga County, NC.

I am a great great granddaughter of Calvin Barlow and his first wife, Ritta 
Bentley Barlow, and a great granddaughter of Julius and Tempie McClurd Barlow.
