Wayne County, NC - Raleigh James Baker Bible ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Entries In The Bible Raleigh James Baker, b. 7 Oct. 1859, at "Long Branch", about three miles south of Harrellsville, N.C., was a son of George Baker and Mary Ann Outlaw, d. 11 April 1921, Ahoskie, N.C., m. Sally J. (John) Harrell They were both buried at the old homeplace now owned by the Winborne family. They were m. near Lewiston, N.C. on 15 Jan. 1884, by Rev. Chas R. Taylor, "in the presence of Waiters": Geo W. Baker, Margie Garrett, W. E. Cullens and Nettie Norfleet. He m. #2: Lily Walton Scull on 26 Dec. 1911, widow of W. D. Scull, and a daughter of James and Nannie Sharp Walton of Greensboro, Ala. (no children) she d. 6 Apr. 1918 He m. #3: Margaret Hardy, on 12 May 1920 and she d. 16 Apr. 1940 (no children) The children of Raleigh James and Sally John Baker were: 1. Pembroke, b. 20 May 1885, d. 26 Jul. 1961, in Raleigh, N.C., m. Vivian Gray Betts, of Raleigh, N.C., on 21 Apr. 1920 (no children) 2. Ruth, b. 18 Nov. 1887, d. 24 Jan. 1964, m. Carl H. Mitchell, son of Dr. Jesse H., b. 25 Mar. 1889, d. 21 Nov. 1948, on 12 Apr. 1910. Children: Jesse Harrell, b. 17 Mar. 1911; Ruth James, b. 31 Oct. 1913; Carl Herman, Jr., b. 28 Aug. 1916, d. 12 Oct. 1932 3. Raleigh James, Jr., b. 2 May 1890, d. Oct. 1895 4. Sallie Rebbecca, b. 24 May 1892, d. 24 Jul. 1914 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Norfolk, Va., m. 31 Dec. 1912 to Sidney P. Watson (no children) 5. Talmage, b. 20 Jul. 1894, d. 22 Mar. 1953, m.
