H. H. Cobb, M. D. Office at the Drug Store of Miller & Cobb, under the Gregory House. Dr. W. H. H. Cobb was born in Wayne County April 3rd, 1841. With an enthusiastic admiration for Gen. Harrison, the hero of Tippecanoe, his parents gave him the old soldier's full name, and to this Dr. Cobb is known to his intimate acquaintances as "Tip Cobb." He received a classical education and devoted himself to the study of medicine. He attended his first course of lectures at the University of Virginia and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1861. On the 16th of April, 1861 he entered the Confederate Army, and was assigned to duty as Assistant Surgeon 2nd Regiment N. C. S. T. He was afterwards attached to Bennings Georgia Brigade and was one of those who saw the starry banner go down in defeat at Appomattox C H. Returning he settled near Everettsville and began a practice of his profession. In 1866 Dr. Cobb married to Miss Etta Wright, daughter of Council R. Wright, Esq., of Goldsboro and at this time has four children. In 1873 Dr. Cobb removed to Goldsboro and began the practice of his profession. He had innumerable difficulties to contend with but with energy, skill and sobriety he oevercame them. He has been engaged in the drug business for a number of years and is now associated with Dr. J. F. Miller in this latter business. He has an extensive and lucrative practice but has never failed to administer to the medical necessities of the poor. Dr. Cobb is a member of the Methodist Church as also is his wife. He is an experienced physician, an accomplished gentleman, and a genial companion.
