Wayne County, NC - Cemeteries From the book, "Gravestone Inscriptions" Reprinted with permission of the Wayne County Historical Association and cannot be reproduced without permission. ========================================================== Located on State Road 1006 between Old Grantham Road and Route 13, about 2 miles north of Grantham Store on the property of Mrs. Ira Mozingo, Route 1, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530. Formerly known as the Dr. Kennedy Home Place. It is called "The Old Indian Graveyard". Two graves were found enclosed with iron fences. Number 350. The stones read: Marshall P. Howard, M.D., 4-27-1817; 4-13-1858 Vines had grown around the other grave so that it was impossible to get to it to read the inscription, but Mrs. Margaret Mozingo said that it was the grave of a young girl, possibly 12 years old, not the same name as the other stone. The other graves, a dozen of more, which were not visible due to the heavy growth of vines, etc. are, according to Mrs. Mozingo, marked with flint rock ========================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
