In 1935 the Colonial Dames of Wayne County, N.C. placed a Marker at this site. It is of Winnsboro blue granite and has the following inscribed on it: On this spot stood Dobbs County Courthouse 1758 - 1791. The following counties were formed from Dobbs: Greene (formerly Glasgow) 1779. Wayne 1779. Lenoir 1791. Erected by the Wayne County Committee N.C. Society Colonial Dames of America 1935. Nearby is the old cemetery and among the crumbled stones we found: Arimenta, wife of Dr. Adam C. Davis, died 9-19-1852; aged 27 years, 5 months, and 27 days. In Memory of Catherine, infant daughter of Dr. Adam C. Davis and Aramenta H. Davis, who died 8-3-1852; aged 3 months and 23 days. Araminta, wife of John Davis, b. 1853; d. 1883. Elizabeth Washington, Consort of General Nicholas Washington, 1791-1838. Elva, wife of Col. George Moses, b. 1825; died Emma Louise, daughter of George C. and Elva Moses, b. 7-8-1855; died 8-15-1856; aged 13 months and 17 days. The Raleigh Register, a Raleigh Newspaper, mentions the following: Dr. Adam C. Davis of Lenoir County and Greenville, N.C., married Arimenta Moses on January 11, 1844 at Strawberry Hill, Wayne Co, N.C. Appeared in the Raleigh Register on Jan 30, 1844. Mrs A.D. Davis died Sept 9, 1852 at Strawberry Hill, Wayne Co, N.C. In the Raleigh Register on Oct 6, 1852. Nicholas Washington of Waynesborough, N.C. married Elizabeth McKinnie on August 1, 1809 in Wayne Co, N.C. Raleigh Register on Aug 17, 1809. George C. Moses married Elvira Thompson on Jan 8, 1846 at Springbank, in Wayne Co, N.C.
