According to Miss Addie Wiggins, granddaughter of Wright Casey, the cemetery was in a cornfield at the time of Wright's death, but is now in a wooded area. She well remembered the deaths of her grandparents and had written them down on a scrap of paper she kept in her bible. Only wooden markers are at the grave sites. Wright Casey Cemetery Wright Casey, (Long Wright), b ca 1824, d 1896 Wife, Mary Harrell Casey, b ca 1832, d 1900 James William Wiggins, b 9-22-1855, d 3-23-1938 Wife, Louise Casey, b 1857, d 1906 Mattie Casey Hinson, d 1904, aged 50 years, wife of Lewis Hinson 1850 Census for Wayne County, NC shows: Wright Casey, 26 years, farmer, born in Wayne County, NC Mary Casey, 18 years John Casey, 1 year Even though the state allowed Miss Addie to live at the old home place until her death in 1973, she and her brother were not allowed to be buried in the old cemetery.
