November 1843 - William Carraway Adm'r of E Carraway Petition to sell Slaves - 
Wayne County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, William Carraway Adm'r of 
Elizabeth Carraway late of said county sheweth that said Elizabeth died 
intestate in the year 1843. That at the present term of this court your 
petitioner hath been duly appointed adm'r and given bond and represents that
his said intestate died possessed and owner of the following slaves: Hannah, 
Ned, Rachel & four children, Abram, Silah and child, Hanna and child July. 
That intestate was largely indebted far beyond the amount that can be raised 
out of her perishable estate and personal estate other than the land and monies 
on hand.
Petitioner prays allowing him to sell, after selling the said perishable estate, 
all or so many of said slaves as shall be necessary on such times as your 
Worships may direct and other relief grant as in duty bound your petitioner 
will ever pray.
