Carolina } Know all Men by these present that We Jethro Wayne County } Odom John Bizzell & Elisha Pipkin all of the State and County aforesaid are held and firmly stand Bound unto John Coor Pinder Sheriff of said County, in the Penal sum of Two thousand pounds Specie, to which payment will and truly to be made & done we bind ourselves, our Heirs Exrs Admrs & Assigns unto the said J. Coor Pinder his Heirs & Assigns firmly Jointly & Severally by these Presents Sealed with our Seals and dated this 11th day of April 1787. The Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above Bounden Jethro Odom do and shall Make his personal Appearance before the judges of the Superior Court of Law & equity to be held for the District of New Bern, at the Court House in New Bern on the twentieth day of May next, to answer Bryan Whitfield in a plea of Trespass on the care & to his damage One Thousand pounds. Then & there to stand to and abide by the Judgmt of the said Court, and not depart the same without leave first had and obtained, Then the above Obligation to be void otherwise to remain on full force & virtue. Pinder Shff} Bail Bond State of Georgia } Agreable to a Dedimus to us Directed have causd Wilks County } John Bails personally to appear before us who being Duely Sworn on the Holy Evengelist of Almighty God Depoeth and Saith that Some Time in the last of February or first of March the year of our lord one thousand seven Hundred and Eighty four he the sd Deponent was Several Days at the House of Mr Jethro Odom in Wayne County in North Carolina in which Time He Heard a report of the Robbery of the Store Belonging to Bryant Whitfield in Two Days after sd Robbery was Committed and that he was at the House of the sd Odom on the same night that the sd Robbery was & said to be Committed and Know him to be at Home Till about Ten Oclock at night that He went to Bed in the same House and Room with the sd Odom about that Hour of the same night on which the sd Robbery was said to be Committed and that He saw the said Odom Rise in the next morning from the same Bed to which he had seen Him go to rest and the sd Deponant on His oath further saith that He does not believe the sd Odom was out of the sd House that night after the Hour of Ten Oclock Till next day and farther this dpt saith not.
