There being four heirs each share would be twenty eight hundred and eighty seven dollars & fifty cents. Mary B. Hollowell the widow of said Hollowell drew of said Negroes Eli, Charity, Isabella, Green, Nathan and Prince valued at two thousand seven hundred dollars and receives from the other three heirs the sum of one hundred and eighty seven dollars & fifty cents to match her amount equal. The Negroes belonging to the other heirs were thrown in common stock they all being minors. We the undersigned respectfully submit the above report to your worshipful Court. Dec 8th 1857 D. B. Hollowell dec'd Recorded May Cr 1858 ----- State of North Carolina County of Wayne Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions May Term 1858 To the worshipful the Justices of the court aforesaid. The petition of Mary B Hollowell widow of the last William Hollowell of the county aforesaid of Augustus B Hollowell, William Hollowell and Catharine B Hollowell being infants of tender years and exhibit this petition of their next friend and mother the said Mary B Hollowell respectfully represents - that William Hollowell late of the county of Wayne departed this life in the month of June 1854, having first duly published his last will and testament wherein and whereby he duly nominated and appointed John C Slocumb of said county sole executor of the same that the said John C Slocumb as executor of said last will of said testator duly propounded the same for probate at the August Term 1854 of this worshipful court when the same was admitted to probate and the said John C Slocumb duly qualified as executor of the same and hath possessed himself of all the estate and effects of said testator, to an amount much more than sufficient for the payment of his just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses and legacies. Your petitioner further shew unto your petitioners Augustus B, William and Catharine B his children the general residue of his entire estate remaining after the payment of his just debts excepting however a certain specific devise of a house and lot in Everittsville to your petitioner Mary B during her life, and certain specific legacies to your said petitioner Mary B, together with a comfortable years support for your said petitioners Mary B and her family.....
