Wayne County, NC - Charles Holmes to John Carroway, Jr, 1789 ~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County, NC Deed Book 5, p 411 Indenture made on 10 Feb 1789 between Charles Holmes of Wayne County, NC and John Carroway, Jr. of the same place. The said Charles Holmes for sum of 300 lbs current money paid by said John Carraway, Jr. - do sell and convey a tract of land - 213 acres - lying and being in Wayne County, NC on the south side of Neuse River adjoining Hines, Reynolds and Jernigan's lands, beginning at Hines corner and runs to a stake in the marsh called Slocumb's Marsh, to a Pine in Jernigan's line to a stake in the marsh at his corner - 213 acres; also a tract of 100 acres on the south side of Neuse River adjoining the aforesaid land, Charles Holmes and Reubin Hines land that they now live on where said land was willed to Kedar Hines by his father Robert Hines, deceased, and transferred by deed from said Kedar Hines to John Carroway and from said John Carroway to Charles Holmes and from said Charles Holmes to said Carroway again.
