Lane Sr, hereby gives notice to the creditors of the deceased to present their claims duly authenticated within the time prescribed by law otherwise this notice will be pleaded in bar of recovery. Feb 20th 1869 Wm. P. Lane Admnr ----- Wayne County in the Probate Court In the matter of the administration of the estate of Wm K Lane dec'd before Geo Jno Robinson Judge of Probate Wm P Lane being swown doth say that Wm K Lane late of said county is dead without leaving any will or testament, and that Wm P Lane is the proper person entitled to Letters of Administration on the estate of the said Wm K Lane. Further that the value of said estate so far as can be ascertained at the date of this application is about $1000 and that Wm P Lane, Olivia Lane, C M Whitfield wife of B F Whitfield, P M Lane, Sarah Lane, Sampson Lane, James Lane, John Lane and Mrs Penelope Lane are entitled as heirs and distributees thereof. Smith and Jno B. Griswold freeholders Greeting You are hereby appointed commissioners to view the estate of W.K. Lane dec. and out of the crop, stock & provisions on hand to lay off set apart to Pennelope Lane widow of said dec a year support for herself and family and should there be an insufficient of crop, stock & provisions on hand for an allowance then you will assess such deficiency in money and in addition to her year support you will allow here one bed & its necessary furniture and one wheel and pair of cards and your proceedings you will report under your hands & seals to the Clerk of the Superior Court. Jno Geo Robinson Clerk ----- Wayne County North Carolina To Jno Geo Robinson, Judge of the Probate Court In obedience to an order directed to us by the Judge of the Probate Court of said county; We, Jno. Robinson JP, J.B. Griswold, J.R. Smith & J.C. Slocumb, Freeholders, provided on the 24th of Feby 1869, to view the estate of W.K. Lane Senr deceased; and to lay off & allott to the widow & family of said deceased, a years provisons as follows All the bacon & pork on hand, about 1000 lbs, all the lard on hand, about 125 lbs, 30 blls corn, all the sweet potatoes on hand (about 125 bus). There being a sufficiency of the crop, stock & provisions on hand for a comfortable support for the said widow & family for one year, we have assessed the deficiency at seven hundred and seventy five dollars & fifty cents to be paid by the Administrator. We have also alloted to said widow one bed, bedstead & furniture, one bible & hymn book & one wheel & one pair cards, as her absolute property. All of which is respectfully submitted. J.C.
