Elizabeth Lewis Estate, 1882

Application for Letters of Administration
Wayne County, In the Superior Court
In the matter of the administration of the estate of Bettie Lewis A T Grady 
CSC and N J Smith being sworn say:
That Bettie Lewis is dead upon the announcement of L Lewis without leaving 
any will and testament; and that N J Smith is the proper person entitled to 
Letters of Administration on the estate of said Bettie Lewis.
Further that the value of said estate is about $1,000 and that Vicey S Parks 
and Emalissa Walker (sisters of Bettie) both of Wayne County are entitled as 
heirs and distributees thereof.

Superior Court of Wayne County

N J Smith administrator of Emalisa T Walker and Vicey S Parks vs William S 
Newsom and Giles S Newsom

The report of the referee W R Allen being returned and there being no 
exception thereto is in all respects confirmed. And it appearing from said 
report that the balance of said fund in the hands of the defendant Giles S 
Newsom as guardian of the said Elizabeth Lewis the 12th day of September 
1887 is $697.76 of which $488.24 is balance of principle. On motion it is 
adjudged that the plaintiffs Emalisa T Walker and Vicey S Parks recover of 
the defendant Giles S Newsom and his surety on his guardian bond the 
defendant William S Newson the said sum of $697.76 with interest on $488.24 
from the 12th day of September 1887 until paid. 

Elizabeth (Bettie) died August 1881
