Wayne County, NC - Estate Record, William Mitchell, 1827 ----¤¤¤---- Estate Of William Mitchell 1827 To the Worshipful the Justices of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions for the County of Wayne February Term 1827 The Petition of POLLY MITCHELL of the County of Wayne humbly submit unto your Worships your petition of aforsaid that WILLIAM MITCHELL late of the County of Wayne departed this life some short time past inherent leaving your petition his widow and relish him surviving and the following persons his heirs at Law viz; JAMES, LEAH now wife of WILLIAM MITCHELL, CORNELIUS, SARAH, PENNY, EVELINA, LOUISA, and ROBERT MITCHELL who are in part whom WILLIAM EDGERTON has been appointed Guardian for heirs vice that the said WILLIAM MITCHELL decd. possesd of an estate and property of which allowing part of land lying in the County of Wayne adjoining the land of JOHN and GEORGE MITCHELL, WILLIAM EDGERTON and HENRY BOYET containing about a Hundred acres out of which your petitioner is entitled to have one third allowed to her for her dower- and being this is settled your petitioner prays your worships before you with to the Sheriff of Wayne Commanding him to Summon a Jury of persons to lay off and alot to her one third part of the premises for her dower and she further prays that the said JAMES MITCHELL, WILLIAM MITCHELL and LEAH his wife and CORNELIUS, SARAH, PENNY, EVELINA, LOUISA and ROBERT MITCHELL by there Guardian the said WILLIAM EDGERTON be made defendant to this petition and your petition will ever prove this.
