title "Pipkin, --- 1838". The James M. Hines mentioned in this record
was guardian to the children of Arhcelaus Pipkin of Lenoir County in
the same record Julia Pipkin, daughter of Archelaus Pipkin, is 
mentioned as the wife of William B. Edmundson whose name is also in
this record.] Estate record reads as follows:

One day after date we or either of us promise to pay James M. Hines
Guard to the heirs of Pipkin dec'd the some of two hundred and fifty
nine dollars for value rec'd witness our hands and seal this the
21 of Nov 1837

To the Sheriff of Wayne County - Greeting
You are commanded to take the body of Henry Best, Spias Ward & Kinchen
T Best and have them before the Justices of our next Court of Pleas
& Quarter Sessions to be held for the county of Wayne at the Court
House in Waynesboro on the 3rd Monday in Feby next, then and there to
answer James M. Hines use of Wm B Edmundson of a plea of debt that they
render unto him the sum of two hundred & fifty nine dollars &c 
 
Herein fail not, under the penalty of law,
Witness, Jno A. Green clerk of our said court at
office the 3rd Monday in Nov next, in the 63
year of our Independence, A.D. 1838
