Aug Co 1854 Ordered that John Everitt administrator of John W Sasser be allowed 5 per cent on his receipts and 2 1/2 per cent on his expenditures for commissions in settling his intestates estate. Nov Co 1855 D F McKinne on behalf of the committee appointed at August Term 1855 to contract for repairing the upper bridge across Falling creek report to this term of the court that Kinchen B Herring contracted for repairing said bridge for the sum of forty two dollars the work to be done in a substantial manner by or before May Court 1856. Aug Co 1859 George W Collier is appointed guardian to Isaac Hooks and enters into bond of five thousand dollars with Wm K Lane surety. Feb Co, 1860 Ordered that Geo W Collier, Wm Carraway and David B Everitt be appointed to assess the value of the real and personal estate of Anna M Hill for the purpose of ascertaining the value thereof for collateral tax and that they report the same to this court. Feb Co, 1860 Ordered that the following persons be appointed patrols in School District No 36 including Dudley Depot viz Bryan J Rhodes, David McKinne, Robert Southerland, Samuel Parker, James Cox and ___ Wiggins. Aug Co 1860 David F McKinne, D B Everitt & John E Becton are appointed a committee to have the necessary repairs made to the Neuse Bridge near the Hopton Place and report to the next term of this court. Aug Co 1860 Ordered that Geo W Collier be allowed nine 90/100 dollars for lumber furnished for Neuse bridge and that the same be paid out of the county tax. Aug Co 1861 David B Everitt is appointed administrator of Nathan P Daniel dec'd and enters into bond of eighty thousand dollars with John Everitt & William Carraway surety bond accepted and administrator qualified. Nov Co 1861 Tax List David B Everitt administrator of Nathan P Daniel gives in four black pole, 275 acres of land valued at $825, 1 piano $1500, interest and 2 vehicles valued at $200 in Indian Springs. Nov Co 1861 Tax List David F McKinne gives in one acre of land valued at $450 in Cross Roads. Feb Co 1862 John Everitt guardian to Philip H Sasser, Millie Sasser & Ellen Sasser renews his bond in the sum of one hundred thousand dollars with Wm K Lane, Geo W Collier & Council Best sureties. Feb Co 1862 John C Slocumb guardian to Wm Hollowell, Augustus Hollowell & Kate Hollowell renews his bond in the sum of thirty thousand dollars with E B Borden & W F Kornegay sureties. Feb Co 1862 John W Wright guardian to the minor heirs of Council R Wright exhibits his annual report which is ordered to be recorded and filed. May Co 1862 John Everitt, Josiah Howell and John H Powell are appointed a Finance committee. May Co 1862 Ordered that Wm Carraway be allowed seven 50/100 dollars for services as assessor in Dudley District and that the same be paid our of the county tax. May Co 1862 On motion John Wright is appointed Administrator upon the estate of M L Davis Dec'd and enters into bond in the sum of two thousand dollars with Wm B Fields & W C Bryan sureties. Qaulified. Aug 1862 David F McKinne is appointed Foreman of the Grand Jury for the Term. Aug 1862 Ordered that John E Becton be released from the payment of a double tax. Nov Co 1862 John Everitt, John H Powell & J Howell Committee of Finance for Wayne County having reported upon the accounts of John R Smith Tax Collector and disbursing officer of the funds collected for the support of the families of the soldiers the same is in all respects confirmed and it appearing there from that the said John R Smith has advanced or paid out the sum of two thousand two hundred and seventy one 35/100 above what he has received. It is ordered by the court that he be allowed the same out of the fund levied at this term for the purposes aforesaid. Nov 1862 On motion John Everit is appointed Administrator upon the estate of the late Hinton J Best deceased and enters into bond in the sum of twenty five thousand dollars with James H Everitt & Isham R Dyer sureties and is duly qualified. May Co 1863 Ordered that David F McKinne be allowed the sum of twelve dollars for services on the board of assessors and that the same be paid out of the county tax. May Co 1863 Ordered that Wm Carraway be allowed the sum of eighteen dollars for services on the board of assessors and that the same be paid out of the county tax. May Co 1863 Ordered that David B Everitt be allowed the sum of nine dollars for services on the board of assessors and that the same be paid out of the county tax. May Co 1863 Ordered that George W Collier be allowed the sum of nine dollars for taking tax list and that the same be paid out of the county tax. May Co 1863 George W Collier guardian to Isaac Hooks comes into court and renews his bond in the sum of ten thousand dollars with Wm K Lane & Wm Carraway sureties. Nov Term 1863 On motion Geo W Collier is appointed administrator on the estate of James W Pridgen deceased and is duly qualified by taking the oath prescribed by law and entering into bond in the sum of five hundred dollars with Wm Carraway security. Feb Co 1864 Wm K Lane, Wm Hooks, G W Collier, John C Slocumb & Gard Thompson are elected Special Court. Nov Co 1864 John Everitt is appointed Administrator upon the estate of Ransom Garris dec'd and is duly qualified by entering into bond in the sum of fifteen thousand dollars with David B Everitt & George W Collier sureties and taking the oath prescribed by law. Feb Co 1865 Ordered that Jno R Smith Tax Collector pay to David F McKinne twelve thousand & ten dollars with interest being for four thousand and one pounds pork bought by D H Bridgers at $3 per pound for soldiers families and that the same be paid out of the county tax. Feb Co 1865 Ordered that Jno R Smith Tax Collector pay to Geo W Collier twenty nine hundred and thirty dollars with interest being for 141 1/2 bushels of corn at $20 per bushel and 2 days hauling and that the same be paid out of the county tax. Feb Co 1865 The last will and testament of Mrs Ann W Hooks is handed in to the court by David B Everitt the executor therein named and he therefore relinquishes his right to qualify as such. Nov Co 1865 David B Everitt named executor in the last will and testament of Ann Hooks heretofore admitted to probate came into court and entered into bond of fifteen thousand dollars with G W Collier as security and he is qualified as such. Nov Co 1865 G W Collier is appointed admr of J R Dyer and is duly qualified as such and enters into bond in the sum of five thousand dollars with D B Everitt and Jno P Cobb sureties. Feb Co 1866 Ordered that G W Collier, Jno Everitt, J J Baker, D H Bridges & Jno R Hood be appointed a committee to examine & report the cost of building a bridge across the Neuse River at the Hooks place. Feb Co 1866 Temperence Carraway to the Court Petition for years provisions The report of the committee returned and in all respects confirmed and ordered to be recorded and filed judgment against the Admrs for cost and that he pay the same out of the estate of his intestate. Feb Co 1866 Temperence Carraway vs Mary Carraway et al Petition for Dower The report of the jury returns and in all respects confirmed and ordered to be received and filed judgments against the petitioner for the cost. May Co 1866 G W Collier is appointed administrator of Kenion Grantham and is duly qualified by entering into bond of one thousand dollars with D H Bridgers as surety. May Co 1866 John Everitt is appointed administrator of Barbara McKinne dec'd and is duly qualified by taking the oath prescribed by law and entering into bond of six thousand dollars with Sam Smith and G W Collier as securities. May Co 1866 Ordered that John C Slocumb, John Everitt and James A Washington be appointed a committee to examine into the claims held by sundry individuals against the county and report what portion to be paid. Aug Co 1866 John Everitt, W G Morisey & John C Slocumb are appointed a committee to examine the claims held by different individuals against the county and report what portion of said claims shall be paid said committee shall report to the next term of this court. Aug Co 1866 John Everitt is appointed admr of Thomas G Smith and is duly qualified by taking the oath prescribed by law and entering into bond of five hundred dollars with G W Collier and Sam Smith sureties. Feb Co 1867 Ordered that W H H Cobb Admr of W D Cobb be allowed to alter the conditions of the acct of sales of W D Cobb Dec'd. Feb Co 1867 Ordered that John Everitt, D H Bridgers, Nathan Adams, J J Baker & G W Collier commissioners to have Neuse River bridge built or any three of them be and are hereby empowered to draw on the county trustee for money to pay W H Jeffries as soon as said bridge is completed and received by them. -------------------- Wayne County, NC Register of Deeds Deed Book 20, pg 147 25 Jul 1845 State of North Carolina } Wayne County } This indenture made on the 25th day of July 1845 between William Carraway of the State and County above on the one part and J.W.S. West and Wm. D. Cobb trustees of the Wayne Lycium Academy of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged he the said Carraway hath given granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain and sell unto the said West and Cobb trustees as aforesaid and their successors in office a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the State and County aforesaid on the north side of the Marsh Branch and publick road leading from Waynesboro to Duplin County and bounded as follows: beginning at a black jack and runs W 10 S 18 pole to the road leading from Waynesboro to Duplin then S 20 E 14 poles with the road to a black jack then E 10 N 18 poles to a stump then to the beginning 1 1/2 acres more or less to have & to hold together with all and singular the woods, ways, priviledges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining also the priviledge of getting wood on the adjoining lands for the use of the school to them the said J.W.S. West and W.D. Cobb trustees of the above Academy as aforesaid and their successors in office free and discharged of any and all incumbrances whatsoever in trust for the use and benefit of the said Academy for the space of twenty five years.
