I only made brief abstracts for my own use [many years ago]. Book 7, p. 115, Wayne Co., May 1819. Alice Hamilton, Ex'x of Ferdinand Hamilton v. James Sheppard, admr. of Oliver Smith. Case is to recover damages for a fraud in the sale of land warrant.....Deed from Smith to Ferdinand Hamilton transfers all "title" in land warrant transferred to NANCY SHEPPARD for 640 acres of a land warrant No. 1751, "lands on the Cumberland River, above the mouth of Roaring River...." This deed purported to convey the right of Smith & of Nancy Sheppard, whom he had married, and the deed dated 4th of June 1806. Also, showed that previously to the sale to Hamilton, to wit: on 25 Jan. 1798, Smith & wife sold these lands to John Gray Blount....which deed was ack. in Pitt Co.
