Term 1827 Wayne Co. NC The petition Sary Stricklin widow of Joseph Stricklin dec’d late of the county aforesaid then to our worship that said Stricklin departed this life in the year of -------. Interstate being seized and supposed at the time of his death somewhere about five hundred acres of land lying on Falling Creek in the county aforesaid adjoining the lands of Everett Joiner, Furney Wood and others. Your petitioner further shows that Asa Stricklin, Joseph Stricklin and Edwin Stricklin who are heirs at law and of lawful aged consent to your Petitioner dower in the lands aforesaid and Moses Stricklin a minor, Wright Stricklin a minor, Cullen Stricklin a minor, Andrew Stricklin a minor and George W. Stricklin also a minor. Your Prays may have a legal pardon appointed them to defend you. There rights in the lands aforesaid and if no legal objects to you. Petition dower in the lands aforesaid that she may have dower accordingly and that your worship will order the sheriff of the county aforesaid to summons a lawful jury to lay off her dower in the lands aforesaid according to act of assembly in such case proved and report to next court.
