Collier to Newman Potts - 1860 Register of Deeds Office Wayne County Goldsboro, NC This Indenture made & entered into on this the 17th day of November A.D. 1860 between George W. Collier of the County of Wayne & State of North Carolina of the one part & Newman Potts of the same County & State of the other part. Witnesseth that the said George W. Collier, for & in consideration of the sum of seventeen hundred & eighty three dollars & twenty five cents ($1783.25) to him in hand paid by the said Newman Potts at the time of executing these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold, conveyed, aliened & confirmed, and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, convey, alien & confirm unto the said Newman Potts, his heirs & assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land, situated, lying & being in the County & State aforesaid on the south side of Neuse River & on the east side of Wilmington & Weldon Rail Road, adjoining the land of the said George W. Collier, Nathan Daniel, Nick Smith, James A. Fields & others, & bounded as follows, Beginning at a bridge across a ditch, said Collier and Daniels corner & runs with said Daniels line N 63 E 217 poles to a pine, said Daniels corner, then with said Daniels line N 17 ½ E 162 poles to a bog on the Poplar Branch, another of said Daniel corners, near the mouth of the school house spring branch, then up said school house spring branch, as it meanders to a pine on the Newbern Road, said Colliers corner, then south with said road as it runs to a pine at the corner of Nick Smiths fence, said Smiths corner, then with said Smiths line W 83 poles to a stake and other of said Smiths corners, then S 2 W 150 poles to a poplar on the Marsh Branch, Jas. A. Fields corner, then with said Fields line N 74 W 78 poles to a pine, then N 89 W 18 poles to a dead pine, another of said Fields corners, then with said Fields line S 58 W 141 ½ poles to a stake another of said Fields corners, thence to the beginning - containing four hundred & twenty & a half acres, be the same more or less. To have & to hold the aforesaid land & premises, together with all & singular the privileges & appurtenances therein belonging, to him the said Newman Potts, his heirs, executors, administrators & assigns forever. And the said G.W. Collier does hereby forever warrant & defend the right-still of the said lands against the lawful claim or claims of any & all persons whatsoever.
