Wayne County, NC - Deeds - Andrew Bass 1784 Deed of Gift (This would be the old Waynesborough area) To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting. Know ye that I Andrew Bass Doctor of the County of Wayne & State of North Carolina for & in consideration of the regard & respect which I have for the good government of the County of Wayne & for divers other good causes hereunto moving. Do freely fully absolutely & willingly of my own accord give grant alien convey and confirm unto Stephen Cobb Joseph Pipkin and Needham Whitfield Commissioners for erecting the Public Buildings for the County of Wayne Three acres of land it being part of the land that I hold by Deed from Robert Bignall Esquire situated lying and being in the County of Wayne on the North side of Neuse River & below the mouth of Little River Beginning at a Dogwood on Neuse River Bank in an old field called West point old field just below the Landing & runs North 45 Degrees East 48 poles thence North 45 Degrees West 10 poles thence South 45 Degrees West 48 poles & thence with a direct line to the first Station To have and to hold the aforesaid Lands & Premisis with all the advantages priviledges & conveniences thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining for the use or uses of said County of Wayne to erect the Public Buildings thereon to hold Courts Auctions General or Petty Musters Elections or any other Business of any kind whatsoever at any time & at all times of a Public Nature and I the said Andrew Bass will Warrant & defend the said lands and premises as before mentioned against me my Heirs Executors & Administrators or any other person or persons whatsoever for & during the term that the said Public Business are held or carried on at the aforesaid place & no longer unto the aforesaid Commissioners or their Successors In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & fixed my Seal this fourteenth day of February Anno Dome 1784 Andrew Bass {Seal} Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of I Richd McKinne John (his X mark) Murphrey Wayne County April Court 1784 The within deed of gift from Andrew Bass Esq to Needham Whitfield, Joseph Pipkin & Stephen Cobb was Acknowledged in open court ordered the same be Recorded Jas.
