Wayne County, NC – Benjamin Best to Caty Grant, 1846 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Know all men by these presents that I, BENJAMIN BEST, of the County of Wayne and State aforesaid for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have for CATY GRANT and for the further sum of one dollar to me in hand paid, I have given granted bargained and sold to the said KATY GRANT one Negro woman by the name of Louisa, reserving my life estate in said Negro.
