Wayne County, NC – Benjamin Best to Lauiza, Susannah & Eliza Grant, 1846 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ State of North Carolina Wayne County Know all men by these presents that I, BENJAMIN BEST, of the county and state aforesaid for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have for LAUIZA GRANT, SUSANNAH GRANT and ELIZA GRANT, daughters of CATY GRANT and for the further consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid I have given granted bargained and sold unto the said LOUIZA GRANT and SUSANNAH GRANT the following Negroes. Viz. Liza to ELIZA GRANT; Penny to LAUIZA GRANT and Winey to SUSANNAH GRANT. Reserving however my life estate in all said Negroes.
