Hudson of the 2nd part all of the county of Wayne and State of North Carolina Witnesseth that said Daniel Brock for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar, to him in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath bargained, sold and conveyed by these presents doth bargain, sell and convey unto C.J. Hudson his heirs, executors, administers and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in Wayne county in Grantham Township and bounded as follows: beginning at a pine Cox's corner and runs N86E poles to a pine, then S82E 83poles to a stake then E 27poles to a stake then N10E 30poles to a stake then N70 ½ W 122 poles to a stake then W 112poles to small pine then S 70poles to beginning containing eighty seven (87) acres more or less adjoining the land of C.J. Hudson, A.A. Grantham and others. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land to him the said C.J. Hudson his heirs and assigns forever. The condition of the following obligation that whereas the before mentioned Daniel Brock is justly indebted to said C.J. Hudson in the sum of six thousand five hundred pound of lint cotton due by five notes bearing interest at ___percent and due each Jany 1st 1882, 1883, 1884, 1885, 1886 dated herewith and is honestly desirous of securing the payment of the same. Know therefore if the said Daniel Brock shall pay off and discharge said debt when due and interest accruing therein then the deed and every part thereof to be void and of no effect; otherwise to remain in full force and virtue and it is further understood and agreed that in case the said Daniel Brock shall fail to pay off said note and interest when due then the said C.J. Hudson is authorized and empowered to advertise said land at the Court House door in Goldsboro and three other public places in Wayne County for thirty days and after such advertisement, sell the same for cash at the Court House door in Goldsboro and convey the same by deed to the purchaser and out of the proceed for such sale pay the said debt and interest and all necessary expenses of making and executing this trust and the balance remaining if any he shall pay unto the said Daniel Brock or his legal representatives. In witnessth whereof the said Daniel Brock has hereto set his hand and seal this 26th day of Feby 1881. Daniel x Brock (seal) Witness: D. B.
