Wayne County was formed from Dobbs in 1779. In an effort to distinguish between the names contained in the deeds the following list of children of Micajah and Sarah Casey is taken from the Wayne County, NC Heritage Book: William Casey was born ca 1775 on his father's plantation on Sleepy Creek and died ca 1834 on his plantation on Bear Creek near present day New Hope. He married Zilphia, probably daughter of Reuben Hines. Mary married William Harris. [Their 1810 deed to John Casey shows them in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.] John Casey married (1) Polly Bass (2) [Rebecca] Lewis (3) Nancy Norris. Many of his family live west of Mt. Olive in the Thunderswamp and Smith's Chapel area. [Rebecca d/o William Lewis born 1761] Micajah Casey was deceased by 1812. He had bought most the shares of the heirs of his father and they inherited his land after his death. Susan Casey married Urban Lewis [Urban s/o William Lewis born 1761] Sally [Sarah Jr?] Casey married Ulle Lewis [Ulle s/o William Lewis born 1761] Richard born ca 1789 died 1855 and married Polly Smith Matthew Casey was deceased by 1819 --- Micajah's Estate Inventory returned to October Court 1800 shows he owned 340 acres of land. Deeds between his children show their 1/8th share was 31 1/4 acres each for a total of 250 acres which land was lying on the east side of Sleepy Creek. Names of the buyers at Micajah's estate sale were Sarah Casey, Michail Wilkins, John Carraway, Negro Toney, William Harris Junr, Samuel Albertson, Samuel Herring, Micajah Casey, John Geddens, Joseph Winfield, Daniel Harris, William Whitfield, Kedar Hines, Stephen Hines, Zachariah Harris, Alexander Frarar, James Green, Sarah Casey junr, Isaac Hines, John Reaves, and Uriah Blanchard. [Many of these names appear in the Casey deeds] Sarah Casey Sen'r was shown as the Administrator of the estate. --- There were two land grants issued to a Micajah Casey in 1778 in Johnston County and Wayne County was formed in 1779 so this is likely the same Micajah in Wayne.
