Wayne County, NC – Deeds – Margret Cogdell to Charles Cogdell, 1783 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 206 To all to whome these Presents shall come greeting Know ye that I Margret Cogdell of the State of No. Carolina and County of Wayne for and in consideration of the state and county aforesaid I give and bequeath and by these presents do freely clearly and absolutely give and grant unto the said Charles Cogdell and to his Heirs and assigns forever one Negro Woman naimed Rose one negro boy naimed Sampson one Negro girl naimed Cloe now in my possession and so to remain during my natural life after my decease to my above said son & to his heirs and assigns forever in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 16th of May & on the fifth year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord Chirst 1782 Signed Sealed and delivered in presents of us Jo.
