C. to Thomas Cook, 1785 //Begin text of document// STATE of NORTH-CAROLINA NO. 134 To all to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting. KNOW YE, That We, for and in Consideration of the Sum of Fifty Shillings for every Hundred Acres hereby granted, paid into our Treasury by Thomas Cook have Given and Granted, and by these Presents do Give and Grant unto the said Thomas Cook a Tract of Land, containing Five Hundred and Ten Acres, lying and being in our County of Wayne on the north side of Aycocks Swamp Beginning at a W. Oak Joshua Davis's corner on said swamp in David Newman's line and running with said line west one hundred and seventy two poles to a pine in Newsoms branch then north one hundred and ninety pole to a pine in John Kings line, then with the same East Twenty poles to a red oak in said line then North one hundred and fifty poles to an oak then East thirty two poles to Silas Hollowell's corner a pine then South Sixty five East thirty six poles to a water oak in Weavers Branch being an agreed line between said Cook and Silas Hollowell then down th! e said branch South Eighty five East one hundred and eighty five pole to a Sweet Gum in said branch then with Joshua Davis's line to the Beginning as by the Plat hereunto annexed doth appear; together with all Woods, Waters, Mines, Minerals, Hereditaments, and Appurtenances, to the said Land belonging or appertaining: To hold to the said Thomas Cook his Heirs and Assigns, for ever. Yielding and paying to us such Sums of Money yearly, or otherwise, as our General Assembly from Time to Time may direct. PROVIDED ALWAYS, That the said Thomas Cook shall cause this Grant to be registered in the Register's Office of our said County of Wayne within Twelve Months from the Date hereof, otherwise the same shall be void and of no Effect. IN TESTIMONY whereof, we have caused our Great Seal to be hereunto affixed.
