WAYNE COUNTY, NC - DEEDS - Stephen Howard to Lazarus Cook, 1833. File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Elton Cooke //Text of document// This Indenture made the 16th day of November 1833 between Stephen Howard of Wayne County & State of North Carolina of the one part and Lazarus Cook of the County & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of twenty two dollars & fifty cents to me in hand paid by the said Lazarus Cook and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien enfeoff convey & confirm unto the said Lazarus Cook his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract of land containing nine acres begining at two pines Lazarus Cook corner thence north 38 poles to a large pine Abram Lamms corner thence his line No 85 East 22 poles to a post oak thence No 82 East 14 poles to a stake thence south 42 poles to a stake in Cooks line thence his line west to the first station to have and to hold the said land and premises in any wise appertaining there unto to him the said Lazarus Cook his heirs or assigns to their proper use & benefit and I the said Stephen Howard for myself my heirs & assigns doth Covenant & agree to and with the said Lazarus Cook his heirs & assigns and I the Stephen Howard shall & will for myself my heirs Executors adm- inistrators and assigns warrant and forever defend the said land and premises from all persons whatever laying any claim or claims in any wise hereof to him the said Lazarus Cook his heirs & assigns forever in witness where of I the said Stephen Howard have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written. The Lazarus Cook named in this document was in Nash County after 1840.
