All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Guy Potts http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00017.html#0004214 June 27, 2020, 6:47 pm Written: 1849 Wayne County, NC Register of Deeds Bk 21, pg 421 Deed 2 tracts Stanton Cox Administrator et al This indenture made December 15, AD 1849 between Zinni Lewis and Penninah Lewis his wife formerly Penninah Cox, Exum T Cox and Emily Cox his wife and Miriam B Cox of the county of Parke and Sate of Indiana, heirs at law of Nathan Cox dec'd late of Wayne County, NC of the one part; and Stanton Cox of Wayne County, NC administrator of the estate of said Nathan Cox dec'd of the other part witnesseth: Whereas heretofore to wit; on the 5th day of March AD 1833 William Morris of the said county of Parke, as Guardian of the said Penninah, Exum T and Miriam (then minors under the age of twenty one years, but now at full and lawful age) made and executed a certain title bond to the said Stanton Cox as aforesaid, by which he bound himself as such guardian, in a certain penalty that said Penninah, Exum T and Miriam should make or cause to be made to the said Stanton Cox a good and valid deed of sale for their distributive share of the land formerly belonging to Nathan Cox dec'd. Now in pursuance of the tenor of said bond and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twelve dollars to the said parties of the first part paid by said Stanton Cox the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said parties of the first part being all of full and lawful age do hereby give, grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Stanton Cox all their right, title, interest, claim and demand in and to the following real estate lying in Wayne. One tract situated on the Wolf Branch on the north side of Nahunta Swamp adjacent to a stake in the Granvil line, Hammund's corner, head of Little Branch and containing 275 acres. Second tract on the east side of Falling Creek and on both sides of Castillow's Branch beginning at Sampson Edward's corner, old patent corner on the bank of the creek and containing 175 acres. Witnesses: Jas B Cornelius and John Marshall State of Indiana county of Parke In the Probate Court December Term AD 1849 Be it remembered that on this 15th day of December 1849 Zinnie Lewis, Exum T Cox and Miriam B Cox personally appeared and acknowledged the execution, signing and sealing of the foregoing deed of conveyance to Stanton Cox Administrator of Nathan Cox dec'd to be their voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposes therein set forth and described and also at the same time personally came into court the said Penninah Lewis wife of said Zinni Lewis and Emily Cox, wife of said Exum T Cox, both being of lawful age and being examined separate.
