This indenture made this the 26th day of March in the year of our Lord one 
thousand eight hundred and fifty three between William B. Edmundson of the 
county of Wayne and state of North Carolina on the one part and Ervin A. 
Thompson, C. J. Nelson, W. L. Bonner, Stephen D. Phillips and Daniel A. Powell 
commissioners of the town of Goldsboro on the other part.

Witnesseth that the said William B. Edmundson for and in consideration of the 
sum of seventy five dollars to him in hand paid by the said commissioners the 
receipt and payment of which is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold 
conveyed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell convey and 
confirm to the said Ervin A. Thompson, Charles J. Nelson, W. L. Bonner, Stephen 
D. Phillips and Daniel A. Powell commissioners as aforesaid and their successors 
in office one certain piece or parcel of land situate lying in the county of 
Wayne near the town of Goldsboro and bounded as follows.

Beginning at a stake on the road eighty three yards below William Street on the 
south side of the road at a stake and runs south 18 west 24 poles 1 1/2 feet to 
a stake then south 72 east 76 yards to another stake then north 18 east 22 poles 
to a stake in said road and then along said road to the beginning containing 
9614 square yards or about two acres be the same more or less.
To have and to hold said land and premises together with all and singular the 
rights privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise 
appurtaining to them the said Ervin A. Thompson, C. J. Nelson, W. L. Bonner, 
Stephen D. Phillips and Daniel A. Powell commissioners as aforesaid and their 
successors in office in fee simple forever said land conveyed to be used for the 
purpose and only purpose of a burying ground and the said William B. Edmondson 
for himself his heirs and executors and administrators do hereby warrant and 
defend the right and title hereby conveyed from or against the lawful claim or 
claims of any and all persons whatsoever to them the said Ervin A. Thompson, C. 
J. Nelson, W. L. Bonner, Stephen D. Phillips and Daniel A. Powell commissioners 
as aforesaid and their successors in office forever. 

In witness of all which the said William B. Edmondson hath hereunto set his hand 
and seal the day and date first above written. Signed sealed and delivered in 
the presents of Jno. A. Green

Wayne County August 4th 1854
Then was the above deed of sale from Wm. B. Edmondson to the commissioners of 
Goldsboro duly acknowledged before me and let it be registered. Benj Aycock Clk.
