Wayne County, NC - Jonathan Taylor to Joseph Everitt, 1782 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 71 State of North Carolina Wayne County To all to whom these Presents shall come greeting &c I Jonathan Taylor of the sd. State & County for & in consideration of the sum of Fifty Pounds current Money of said State have Bargained Sold enferred conveyed confirmed and set over unto Joseph Everitt of the State & County aforesaid Thirty five acres of Land Situate lying and being in the County aforesaid on the South side Neus river being part of a certain tract or parcell of Land pattented by the said Everitt bearing date 30th Janr'y 1773 and is bounded as follows (to wit) Begining at a marked pine tree the second corner of Micajah Caseys land the corner Tree of his own Land thence up the folly line to the ready branch thence up the meanders of the ready Branch to a black jack at the turn of the branch from thence to the first Station Containing Thirty five acres Land with all and singular appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the said Joseph Everitt his heirs and assigns forever and I the said Jonathan Taylor for myself my heirs Exr's admr's and assigns do Covenant and agree to and with the said Joseph Everitt his heirs and assigns that before the ensealing and delivery of these Presents that I am the true Sold and lawful owner of the above mentioned Land with all appurtenances thereunto belonging and have in myself good right full power and Lawful authority to grant Bargain sell and convey the same unto him the said Joseph Everitt or any other person in manner aforesaid at that the said Joseph Everitt his heirs Exr's admr's & assigns shall and may from time to time and at all time forever hear after Peaceably and quietly have hold use Occupy possess and enjoy the same in as full and ample a manner in every respect as the said Jonathan Taylor could or might enjoy he the said Joseph Everitt paying all such Taxes as shall be by Law required furthermore I the said Jonathan Taylor for myself my heirs Exr's admr's & assigns do hereby promise and engage to Warrant Secure and forever defend the above mentioned land with all Priviledges and appurtenances to the same belonging to him the said Joseph Everitt his heirs and assigns forever free and clear of all manner of charge & encumbrances of any Kind or nature whatsoever the above mentioned only excepted and likewise against the lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever according to the true intent and meaning of these Presents in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my Seal the 12th January A.D. 1782 Present Jonathan Taylor {Seal} Jas.
