State of North Carolina Wayne County
This Indenture made and entered on this the 11th March in the year of our Lord 
one thousand eight hundred and forty eight between Jno. W. S. West and David B. 
Everitt of the county and state above written of the one part and Wm. D. Cobb of 
the county and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Jno. W. 
S. West and David B. Everitt of and in consideration of the sum of forty dollars 
to them in hand paid by the said Wm. D. Cobb the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged hath bargained, sold and by these presence doth bargain sell alien 
enfeof and convey unto the said Wm. D. Cobb his heirs and assigns forever all of 
two certain Lots or parcels of land situate, lying and being in the Village of 
Everittsville in the county and state aforesaid being known and described in plan 
of said village as lot numbers 28 and 29 and containing in all two acres of land. 
Also two acres situate lying and being in the county and state aforesaid lying on 
the south side of said village and apart the above lots beginning at a stake 
opposite the south east corner of said lots and run south one acre deep then west 
two acres deep then north to the street then to the beginning. To have and to 
hold the said lots and land hereby conveyed and all the appurtenances thereunto 
belonging to him the said Wm. D. Cobb his heirs and assigns forever and we the 
said Jno. W. S. West and David B. Everitt by these presents doth obligate and 
bind ourselves our heirs executors administrators and assigns to warrant and ever 
defend the right and title to the above mentioned lots and land unto the said Wm. 
D. Cobb, his heirs and assigns forever free and clear of all claims or demands of 
ourselves, our heirs and every other person or persons whatever. In testimony 
whereof we the said Jno. W. S. West and David B. Everitt have hereunto set our 
hands and seals on the day and date above written.

Then was the above deed of sale from Jno. W. S. West and David B. Everitt to Wm. 
D. Cobb duly proven in open court by the oath of Jno. E. Becton a subscribing 
witness ordered to be registered. Jno. A. Green  Clk
