To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that I Wm. Johnston Of the State of North Carolina and County of Wayne in Consideration of the sum of Nineteen barrels salt pork to me in hand paid the rest where of I do acknowledge And myself there with to be fully satisfied Contended and paid have given granted confirm set over unto Robert Fortner of the State and County aforesaid a Certain Tract Or Parcel of land & Plantation Containing Two Hundred Acres to be the same more or less. To Witt: Beginning at a red oak and runs 160 poles to a pine N.20 E. along Robert Fortner’s line to the dividing line then with the Dividing line to a lightwood Stake where The Patent calls for a post oak then S.172 poles to white oak thence to the Beginning. Adjoining Adm Caraways & Doctor Bass lines. To have & to hold Said lands & Plantation with all & singular the Houses out houses Orchards Gardens woods under woods Waters water crops mines minerals & all of the Appurtenances there unto the Robert Fortner his heirs and assigns forever. So his and their proper use benefit and behoof forever and that I the Sa. Wm. Johnston do for my self my heirs Eros Admins and assigns & agree that at this time of ensealing & delivery these presents that I am lawfully seized of the land & premises & have in myself a good power and lawful authority to sell & dispose of the premises as in manner aforesaid. To the same being freely and Clearly acquitted Exonerated & discharge off and all manner of former & other gifts sales or encumbrances whatsoever & furthermore I the So Wm. Johnston do for myself my Heirs Eros Admins and assigns do Covenant promise grant and agree to Warrant and defend this Lands and Plantation with every appurtenance thereon or here belonging unto them. Robert Fortner his heirs and assigns forever against the Claims or demand of all and every person or persons whatsoever as in ample a manner to all intent and fee poses as the most learned in the Law can devise.
