	This indenture made on the 20th day of December A.D. 1883 between 
G.E. Grantham, of the one part and C.J. Hudson, W.H. Hood and James 
McCullen, School committee and Trustees of Public School district No. 50 of 
the other part, all of Wayne County State of North Carolina Witnessth that 
for in consideration of the sum of one dollar $1.00 to them paid the receipt 
whereof is hereby acknowledged the said G.E. Grantham has given, granted, 
bargained and sold by these presents does give grant, bargain and sell unto 
the said C.J. Hudson, W.H. Hood and James McCullen trustees as aforesaid and 
their successors in office a certain tract of land in the aforesaid county 
on the north side of Falling Creek and south side of Horse Swamp bounded as 
follows:  beginning with a stake on the road and runs with said road S30W 
8poles to a dead pine stump then N76W 18poles to a pine then N16E 7½ poles 
to a stake then S76E 201/2 poles to the beginning containing one acre more 
or less To have and to hold, together with all and singular the privileges 
and appurtenance thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining to the said 
C.J. Hudson, W.H. Hood and James Mccullen trustees as aforesaid and their 
successors in office in fee simple absolutely and forever, free and 
discharged of any and all incumbrances whatever in trust for the use and 
benefit of said Public School district #50.  It is further agreed that when 
the above described premises ceases to be used for Public School purposes 
the said right and title to the same shall return to the said G.E. Grantham.  
In testimony whereof the said G.E. Grantham has hereto set his hand and seal 
the day and year above written.
