	This deed made 22 day of January 1886 by W.K. Grantham of Wayne 
County and State of NC To C.J. Hudson of Wayne County and State of NC. 
Witnesseth that said W.K. Grantham in consideration of one thousand dollars 
to him paid by said C.J. Hudson the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged 
has bargained and sold and by these presents does bargain and sell and 
convey to said C.J. Hudson his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns 
a tract of land in Wayne county State of NC Beginning at a black gum on the 
main run in Falling Creek and runs N9E 100poles to a stake then S81W 4poles 
to a stake in AA Grantham's line then his line N9E 53poles to a stake then 
N80E 28poles to a stake then N40E ¾ pole to a stake Nathan Byrd's corner 
then his line S81E 127 poles to a stake on the run of McCullens  Branch then 
down the run as it meanders about 74poles to a sweet gum James McCullen's 
corner then his line S52W 76poles to a stake then W poles to a stump his 
corner then S12W 164poles to a water oak on run of Falling Creek then N65W 
94poles to a small post oak then S64W 31poles to the main run at the fishing 
hole then up the main run to beginning containing 174 acres more or less.  
To have and to hold this aforesaid tract of land and all privileges and 
appurtenances there to belonging to the said C.J. Hudson and his heirs and 
assigns to their only use and behoof.  And that said W.K. Grantham covenant 
that he is seized of said premises in fee and has right to convey the same 
in fee simple that the same are free from all incumbrances and that he will 
warrant and defend said title to the same against the claims of all persons 
whatsoever.  In testimony whereof W.K. Grantham hereunto sets his hand and 
seal the day and year above written.

	The execution of the foregoing instrument on the day duly 
acknowledged before me by W.K. Grantham the grantor thereof Let the same 
with this certificate by registered.  This 3rd of May 1886.
