Sallie HINES to Timothy SPENCE, both of Wayne Co., NC
25 Feb. 1877

This Indenture made this the 25th day of Feb. A.D. 1877, between Sally HINES of 
the county of Wayne & State of North Carolina of the firs part and Timothy 
SPENCE of the same place of the second part. Witnesseth: That the said party of 
the first part for and in consideration of the sum of (40) dollars to her in 
hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, has bargained sold & 
conveyed unto the said party of the second part, his heirs & assigns forever, a 
tract of land situated in said County and bounded as follows: beginning at a 
Stake; Timothy SPENCE’S corer, & runs with his line to Dice HINES corner, then 
with her line to Robert KORNEGAY’S line then with his line to Elmeta & Elsey 
HINES corner, then with their line to the beginning containing twenty six acres, 
more or less; with all the rights & privileges to it belonging. And the said 
party of the first part promises & agrees to warrant & defend the right & title 
of the said land against all lawful claims of all persons whatsoever.
In Witness whereof the said party of the first part has hereunto set her hand & 
seal day and date first written.

The due execution of the written deed was this day duly proven before me by the
