Wayne County, NC – William Howell & wife, Ann to John West, 1788 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 4, pg 317 William Howell & wife, Ann to John West, 1788 This indenture made this twenty third day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight between William Howell and Ann Howell his wife of the State of North Carolina and County of Wayne of the one part and John West of the same County & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that they the said William Howell & Ann Howell his wife for and in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds spiece to them in hand paid by the said John West before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said Wm. Howell and Ann Howell doth hereby acknowledge, hath granted, bargained & sold alined enfusffied,released, & confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, aline, enfuoff, release and confirm unto the said John West his heirs and assigns forever a certain plantation tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in Wayne County ( Formerly called Dobbs County) on the North side of the Neuse River and West side of Stoney Creek near Daughtry's line and runs N 61 uncertain number of poles more or less to a branch, then down the Branch as the Branch as the branch runs to the creek thence up the creek to the beginning, containing ninety acres more or less. Also one other certain plantation tract or parcel of land joining the former tract beginning at a gum as the patent directs on the West side of Stoney Creek the said Hoptons corner tree and runs with his own line N 61 W 200 to a stake in or near Boyettes line thence E 25 103 poles to a Pine in Boyettes line thence with his line E 200 to a pine in Thomas Thompson's line thence to the beginning containing one hundred & thirty two acres of land. The two above tracts or parcels of land containing in the whole tow hundred & thirty two acres as will appear by a deed of gift by Charles Hoptons to Ann Howell wife of William Howell patent 12th day of January 1760 And also all profits commodities advantages hereditaments & appurtenances to the said tracts or parcels of land belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents & profits of the said premises and of each and every part thereof and all the Estate Right Title Claim property interest & demand whatsoever of them the said William Howell and Ann Howell of in & to the said tracts or parcels of land & premises and each & every part thereof To have and hold the said tracts or parcels of land and all singular the premises above mentioned and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said John West his heirs and assigns to only the proper use & behalf of the said John West his heirs and assigns forever and the said William Howell & Ann Howell his wife for them selves & their heirs doth covenant promise and agree to and with the said John West and his heirs and assigns the said tracts or parcels of land and premises and every part and parcel thereof against them & their heirs and against the right full Title claims and demand of all and every other person or persons shall and will forever warrant and define by these presents In Witness whereof the said William Howell and Ann Howell his wife hath hereunto set their hands & seals the day and year above written William Howell Ann Howell (her mark) signed sealed delivered in presence of us B Stevens Jas.
