Hood, Sr. Source: www.familysearch.org Wayne Deed Records Image 233 of 718 Microfilm of Vol. 36 page 378 State of North Carolina Wayne County This indenture made the 13th day of November A.D. 1873 between C.J. Hudson and wife of one part and W. B. Hood of the other part all of the above county and state written. Witnesseth: That the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of 1 bales of cotton each weighing 500 pounds and the receipt wherefore is hereby acknowledged hath bargain, sold and conveyed unto the party of the second part a certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the state and county aforesaid on the north side of Falling creek and bounded as follows: Beginning at a sweet gum on the run of a small branch near the road and runs south S62E 118 poles to a stake then N63West 143 poles to a stake on the road then S181/2 W 28 poles to a small maple in the head of a small branch then down said branch as it meanders to the beginning containing one hundred thirty two and three fourths acres more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid bargained land and premises together with all and regular the profits, benefits, privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said W.B. Hood, Senr. His heirs and assigns forever and the said C.J. Hudson and Mary his wife do by these present bind______ our heirs, exes., admins and assigns to warrant and forever defend the above mention land and premises to the to the ___________ and possessions of the said W.B. Hood, Senr his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof we the said C.J. Hudson and Mary Hudson his wife hath here unto set our hands and seals the day and date above written. Robinson Judge of Probate for said county personally appeared C.J. Hudson and Mary Hudson the persons described in and who signs the annexed conveyance and generally acknowledged the due execution thereof for the purpose therein expended and therefore the said Mary Hudson being by me privately examined apart from her said husband touching her voluntary consent hereto acknowledge that she had executed the same freely and without fear or compulsion of her said husband and does now voluntarily assent thereto and hereby relinquishes right of dower in said lands.
