Hudson Source: www.familysearch.org Wayne Deed Records 1893-1903 Image 571 or 658 Volume 69 page 331 State of North Carolina County of Wayne This deed made the 13th day of November 1897 by and between C.J. Hudson of the first part and W.J. Hudson party of the second part. Witnessed that whereas under and by virtue of a power of sale is a mortgage executed by J.F. Cox and wife Emma E. Cox to C.J. Hudson registered in the office of the Register of Deeds of Wayne county in book 67 page 324 the indebtedness secured therein being unpaid after the advertisement therein required, the party of the first part offered for sale the lands therein conveyed by public auction for cash at the courthouse in Goldsboro, NC on Saturday November 13, 1897 at 12 ½ oclock pm when and where the party of the second part became and was declared the purchaser at the price of $435.00 he being the last and highest bidder and where the said purchase money has been paid. Now therefore in consideration of the _______ and the sum of $435.00 the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged the party of the first part has bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents does convey unto the party of the second part his heirs and assigns the lands described in said mortgage to wit: a certain tract of land lying in Grantham Township Wayne county, NC containing 200 acres more or less adjoining the land of Julius H. Raynor, Henry C. Holmes and heirs of D.P. Jordan being a ½ interest in the lands on which the late Richard Raynor resided at time of his death and being the lands or ½ interest in the lands assigned to Richard Raynor in his homestead and in the report of the Appraiser described as follows: Richard Raynor's entire ½ interest in his residence or homestead place o 400 acres it being the purpose and intent to convey herein all the interest of the said Richard Raynor in said land being the property and interest conveyed by Julius H. Raynor, Adm. Of Richard Raynor dec'd by deed of this sale to E.E. Cox. To have and hold unto the party of the second part, his heirs and assigns in free. In witness where of the party of the first part has here unto set his hand and seal. Witness F.A.
