Hudson of Sampson County State of NC of the first part to A.J. Herring of the second part witnessed that the said Mary Hudson and C.J. Hudson in consideration of fifteen hundred dollars to them paid by A. J. Herring the receipt which is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold and by these presets do bargain, sell and convey to said A.J. Herring and his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns a tract of land in Wayne county state of NC adjoining the lands of G.E. Grantham, J.B. Kennedy, W.K. Grantham, and bounded as follows viz: beginning at a black gum on the run of Rains Branch and runs S58E 5poles to stake on the west side then with the road about N16E 192poles then N55W 166poles to a pine(down) H.Bizzell's corner then his line S2W 44poles to a stake at said Bizzell's corner then his line S46W 11 poles to a stake in the east side of a small branch then his other line N47W 46poles to Bridgers line thence with Bridgers line passing his corner S65 86poles to stake on the ditch in Horse Swamp-Warrick corner- thence his line @43E 105poles to a boxwood on run of Rains Branch then down the run of said branch to beginning containing 218 ½ acres more or less except 1 acre sold for a negro school house being the land conveyed by J.H. Grant, sheriff, C.J. Hudson by deed registered in Book 63 page 176 Wayne County Register and conveyed afterward to Mary Hudson To have and to hold aforesaid tract of land and all privileges appurtenance there to belonging to the said A.J. Herring his heirs and assigns to their only use and behoof and the said Mary Hudson and C.J. Hudson covenant with A.J. Herring and his heirs that they are seized of said premises in fee and hive right to convey the same in fee simple that the same all free from all incumbrances and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all person whatsoever. In Testimony whereof the said Mary and C.J. Hudson has here unto in their hand and seal the year and day above written. Mary x Hudson (seal) C.J. x Hudson (seal) North Carolina Sampson County I, W.K. Pigford, CSC do hereby certify that C.J. Hudson and Mary Hudson his wife personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed deed and the said Mary Hudson being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband touching her voluntary execution of the same doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear of compulsion of her said husband or any person and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto Let it be registered.
