Wayne County, NC - Lucia Lane to Hepsy & Jane Smith, 1834

To all people to Whom these presents shall come I LUCIA LANE of
the County of Wayne and state of North Carolina hand Greeting.
Know ye that I the said LUCIA LANE for and in Consideration of 
the natural love and affection which I have and bear towards my 
beloved Grand children HEPSY SMITH and JANE SMITH daughters 
of THEOPHILUS SMITH and HOWEY his wife of the same state and
County aforesaid and for divers other good causes & consideration
me hereunto moving have given and granted and by these presents
doth give and grant unto the said HEPSY SMITH One Cow and calf
and also unto the said JANE SMITH One Cow to have hold and 
Enjoy the said Cattle free and clear from all encumbrances of myself
and all other person or persons Whatsoever and the title of said pro-
perty unto the said HEPSY SMITH and JANE SMITH. I hereby warrant
and will forever defend. In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my 
hand and seal this 1st December 1834.
