Wayne County, NC - John W. Lane to Calvin Edmundson, 1839

    This indenture made the 12th day of September in the year of our
 Lord one thousand eight hundred thirty nine between JOHN W LANE
 of the state of North Carolina and county of Wayne of the one part
 and CALVIN EDMUNDSON of the county and state of the other part.
 Witness that I the said JOHN W LANE for and in consideration of the
 sum of twenty dollars ($20) to me in hand paid by the said CALVIN
 EDMUNDSON before the signing and delivering of these presents
 the receipt and payment thereof is hereby acknowledged that I the 
 said JOHN W LANE have bargained and sold unto him the said
 CALVIN EDMUNDSON  his heirs and asigns for ever two certain
 pieces of land situated lying and being in the county aforesaid
 one piece lying on the Beaver Dam Branch joining the lands of
 GEORGE W THOMPSON and one other piece in the piney woods
 joining the lands of WM. CAREY deceased and others. The above
 mentioned land was deeded to me JOHN W LANE, PENNY LANE and
 ZILPHA GINN by my mother MILLY GINN which land one third part is
 mine and I the said JOHN W LANE do warrant and forever defend all
 my right and title and interest in the same against the lawful claim
 or claims of any person or persons whatsoever unto the said CALVIN
 EDMUNDSON his heirs and asigns in witness whereof I have hereunto
 set my hand and affixed my seal the day and date above written.
