Wayne County, NC - Deed of Lofley, Jesse, et al to Copeland, Jacob-1801 (Simon Bardin, William Peacock, Arther Bardin) File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Meredith Clapper This indenture made this twenty third day of October in year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and one between the heirs of Everit Barden deceasd Jesse Loftly & Susanna his wife of the state of Georgia & County of Jefferson and Simon Bardin of the aforesaid William Roack (Peacock) and Absilla his wife and Arthur Bardin of the state of North Carolina & county of Wayne and Jacob Copeland of the same place witnesseth that said heirs above named of Everit Bardin for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and seventy five pounds spuie(?) unto us the said heirs in hand paid by the said Jacob Copeland and before the sealing and signing of these presents the right and payment whereof we hereby acknowledge ourselves therewith satisfyd contented and paid and we the said heirs of the said Everite Bardin decd for our selves our heirs doth by bargain sell alien en__off unto the said Jacob Copeland his heirs executors and assigns forever a certain tract and parcele of land containing two hundred acres by estimation be the same more or less situate lying and being in the county aforesaid of Wayne and on the north side of Naughunty and on the east side of the little branch begining at the run of Naughunty at the mouth of said little branch and runs up said branch to the head and then the same course of the sd branch to the back line of Bardins land then with said line to the corner an ash old John Peacocks corner in the Wolf branch then So. 20 Wt 156 pole to a white oak said Peacocks other corner then So 60 pole to a sweet gum in said Naughunty then up the run of said swamp to the begining it being by patent granted unto Simon Bardin deceased and left to his son Everite Bardin deceased who died intestate which said piece and parcell of land with all ways woods waters and every other appurtenance thereunto beloning on in any wise appertaining we the above named heirs and every of us for our selves our heirs exrs admrs hath hereby sold set over conveyed released & confirmed in open market to the said Jacob Copeland his heirs exrs admrs and assigns and we the said heirs of Everit Bardin for our selves our heirs exrs admrs do hereby covenant & promise to and with the said Jacob Copeland his heirs ecrs or assigns that we the said heirs above named our heirs exrs and admrs shall and will forever defend the said piece or parcel of land with all and every of it members and appurtenances free and clear from all lawful claims of any person or persons whatsoever unto the said Jacob Copeland his heirs exrs admrs and assigns forever in witness whereof we the said heirs of Everet Bardin deceased hath hereunto set our hands & seals the day and year above written.
